We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:

1.) Individual Training Consultant for Fire Safety Sensitization and Disaster Risk Reduction in Site and Settlement

Location: Borno

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in any field of study
  • Previous experience in organizing / facilitating Training of Trainers (ToTs) on fire safety and disaster reduction
  • Knowledge of and experience working in the Northeast like Ngala, Bama, Dikwa, Gwoza, Damboa and Monguno
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required,
  • Ability to work independently and respond to feedback in a timely and professional manner,
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with the overall policy and strategic context of the Northeast Nigeria
  • Good facilitation skills for internal and external consultations.
  • Strong analytical and good inter-personal communication skills; experience in participatory processes.
  • Professional command of English, both oral and written, good report writing skills.

  • The Consultant MUST be based within Borno State as Mercy Corp will not be responsible for providing airfare or any means of transportation and accommodation in Maiduguri. Mercy Corps will only cover the cost of accommodation, transportation in deep field locations, provision of venue for training, training stationeries.

2.) Consultant – Development of Skills Training Contents for Short Videos

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Objectives

  • The proposed video brief will be multimedia based; combining audio-visuals and practical simple step-by-step illustrations of the process of how to start and manage a specified business such as: how to start and what it takes to start and manage a low scale poultry farm, goat farm, from within the participants residence, bread making using locally improvised oven, and mat weaving with local resources available within the communities.

The objective therefore will be to:

  • Tell the “how-to” production and management steps by developing a simplified 10-minute step-by-step process video each in the following areas:
    • Poultry keeping
    • Goat rearing
    • Caking baking,
    • Bread baking, and
    • Mat weaving.

Expected Results

  • Five (5) 10-minute videos of a simplified and practical step-by-step process of producing products to an internationally acceptable standard.
  • These videos should have a voice providing instructions, practical in nature, and practical steps of the how to start, manage, and cash out.
  • Videos that tell a compelling and engaging story of the “how-to” production and management steps of business options for GIRL-H program participants.

Required Experience & Skills
The Consultant must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Minimum educational qualification is a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 3 – 5 years relevant work experience.
  • Experience in curriculum development and training materials for small-scale business development.
  • Experience in media, and has extensive experience in documentaries and developing videos
  • Educational qualifications and extensive work experience in business development, entrepreneurship and business and financial management.
  • Must be computer literate and able to develop and deliver training notes.

Numbers of videos:

  • We need soft copies which will be translated into tablets or phones that the safe space mentors can utilize at the safe space.

Duration:

  • This contract is to last for 1 month.

3.) Ethics and Assurance Manager

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Knowledge and Experience

  • BSc. University Degree in Law, Finance, Accounting or a related Business field is required; and an Advanced Degree is a plus;
  • 5 years+ related work experience with a non-profit organization implementing international programs or other reputable private sector entities;
  • Strong background in compliance, systems and internal controls;
  • Relevant experience in fraud investigation or auditing. Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) designations are strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of a wide range of ethics violations, including fraud, corruption and human trafficking in humanitarian and/or development settings; Understanding of best practices in ethics management and accountability within INGOs, including best practices for investigations of ethical violations;
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully working with administrative and program staff at all organizational levels;
  • Solid organizational and research skills with a broad understanding of various program sectors and activities;
  • Demonstrated experience in financial and operational data analysis;
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel;
  • Fluent in written and oral communication in English.

Success Factors:

  • The successful Ethics & Assurance Manager will possess an exemplary professional standard of ethics as well as the willingness and ability to enforce compliance with Mercy Corp’s internal policies and procedures and external regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders on sensitive and confidential matters are necessary along with the ability to navigate difficult circumstances with a calm demeanour, in an analytical and methodical manner.
  • A demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and process information in support of changing program activities is necessary.
  • A broad understanding of humanitarian and development programs coupled with the ability to analyze financial operational data and clearly present conclusions and recommendations is essential.
  • The humanitarian objectives of Mercy Corps’ programs may require flexibility in working hours and frequent travel to field offices, program sites and sub-recipient locations.
  • Mercy Corps Team members represent the agency both during and outside of work hours when deployed in a field posting.
  • Team members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and Mercy Corps policies, procedures, and values.

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions:

  • The Manager is based in the capital city of Abuja. Housing, health care, water, electricity, and consumer goods are all reasonably accessible and there are good international and domestic travel options from Abuja Airport.
  • Air travel is necessary to reach some field locations.
  • Mobile phone services are widely available.
  • Internet is available in all Mercy Corps offices and Guest Houses with some inconsistencies in the most remote sites.
  • This position requires travel by air and road to field offices.
  • Mercy Corps team members represent the agency both during and outside work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit/TDY to a field posting.
